FeatherFast
Demonstration Page
| A dozen arrows that once required 12 to 18 hours for feathers to be glued can now be fletched in about 30 minutes. You can easily do it yourself with any single-fletch jig, a small pair of scissors and a roll of FeatherFast fletching tape.
Apply FeatherFast tape to quill.
Trim tape to length and angle of feather, then press entire length of tape firmly against quill.
Peel away protective backing to expose adhesive material.
Place clamp with feather
into jig, so that adhesive
touches arrow shaft.
Immediately open clamp and remove. Rotate shaft.
Repeat above steps for second and third feathers to complete the arrow.
To seal the quill tips, a dab of wet archery glue should be placed on the leading and tail end of each feather.
| For repairing arrows in the field when a feather attached with traditional wet glue has partially or completely peeled away, FeatherFast Fletching Tape is the perfect repair solution. Press a strip of FeatherFast on the shaft along the old glue line, peel away FeatherFasts protective backing and press the old feather into place. |
| TIP: Run a marker along the shaft on both sides of each feather before using arrows in the field. Then, if a feather becomes damaged and needs to be entirely replaced, simply remove the damaged feather, align a strip of FeatherFast between the marker lines, peel away protective film and press the feather firmly in place. |
